Stretch your legs on this short hike from the pretty bay at Poris to Punta de Abona and its lighthouse. Pass across the golden sands of Playa Grande where a dip in the sea may be appealing. If conditions are right, great views over to Gran Canaria and, looking inland, to the mountains rising up to the peak of Teide. Observe how different the old and new lighthouse (faro) buildings are. From the lighthouse area, look over to the abandoned, unfinished leper colony in the middle distance at Abades. Visit the quiet church square in the little village of Punta de Abona. Enjoy a post-walk drink and a snack at the tiny beach-side Al Mar bar in Poris.
