The city is largely located in the Southern Black Forest Nature Park. The good infrastructure and many attractions make Kandern attractive to visitors. The beautifully preserved core city with the Biedermeier marketplace and the classical flower square is the end of the historic Kandertalbahn, a historic steam train. The tourist information center of the city is located in the Old Town Hall on the market square Kandern.
