In the late ice age about 14,000 years ago, the Kaprun was covered by a giant glacier. Slowly flowing downhill, he worked hard to Kalkglimmerschieferfelsen of corn and Bürgkogels. The melted glacier left behind a valley, through which the Kapruner Ache flowed.
