Ek' Balam is a Yucatec-Maya archaeological site within the municipality of Temozón, Mexico, in the Mid-east of the Northern lowlands, and 51 kilometres (32 mi) northeast of Chichen Itza. From the Preclassic until the Postclassic period, it was the seat of a Mayan kingdom. This structure is named the Acropolis and is believed to contain the tomb of Ukit Kan Le'k Tok', an important ruler in Ek’ Balam.
