There is hardly a museum in Berlin that fascinates and polarises as much as the world's first museum of BODY WORLDS creators. Gunther von Hagens and dr. Angelina Whalley in the center of Berlin. Since its opening in February 2015, the Menschen Museum (MeMu) with over 230,000 visitors (as of April 2016) is one of the most visited private museums in the capital. Located directly on Alexanderplatz, the MeMu ventures a deep insight into the structure of the human body - it shows what connects us, what keeps us upright and in motion, makes us laugh and love. It makes visible the highly complex, but also fragile and protective structures of the body, explains easily understandable individual organ functions and common diseases.
Plastinates in realistic poses allow the immediate reference to the body of the beholder. But the museum is much more than a mere anatomy show, which provides insights into our complex body interior: Through the intense perception of one's own physicality during the tour, the MeMu invites the visitor to a deeply touching and inspiring encounter with life and a lasting engagement with what makes man. With the customizable audio guide, the visit is enriched with another dimension: it contains understandable explanations, astonishing numbers, facts and further information about the exhibits, which can be called up according to personal interest. The audio tour in German and English is designed for medical laymen, takes about two hours and is included in the ticket price.
Information for families For families, the MeMu offers a cheap family ticket. Many families use the museum visit to inform themselves about the body and its function, health, disease prevention and quality of life. Children from the age of 8 can playfully experience the world of anatomy as part of the regular "junior doctor's workshop" and gain a certificate.
Information for school classes and groups The MeMu offers from 10 persons favorable class and group prices. For school classes, the accompanying teacher / trainee teacher receives free admission, also in preparation for the visit. For the exhibition visit with the class and for the preparation free accompanying material is provided.
