The new Goodland Bridge was completed in 1975 and in 2013 renamed the Stan Gober Bridge. In November 2012, the Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution to honor Stanley Russell Gober, a Goodland resident for more than 40 years, entertainer, humanitarian and owner of Stan’s Idle Hour in Goodland by renaming the Goodland Bridge after him. In support of the renaming, Goodland resident and long-time friend of Stan’s, Walter Kane, noted that Stan’s Idle Hour was known coast-to-coast placing the small village of Goodland on the map. In addition, Stan supported fundraisings for charities ranging from Hospice to members of the military as well as many local causes. Members of the Board of County Commissioners may be present.
