The scientific service center of the German Bundestag is located directly on the Spree. Inaugurated in 2003, the new building owes its name to the social politician and women's rights activist Marie Elisabeth Lüders. In addition to the Parliamentary Library and specialized scientific service providers, it also houses a publicly accessible Wall Memorial. Parts of the Berlin Wall were rebuilt here to commemorate the division of the city along the former wall route. Together with the Federal Chancellery and the Paul-Löbe-Haus, the Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus also belongs to "Federal Row", an architectural symbol of German unity.
