Vögisheim is a neighborhood directly adjacent to Müllheim district in the valley of the small Neumattbach in the hilly Vorbergzone, surrounded by vineyards, meadows, fields and forest, conveniently located yet quiet and idyllic. Vögisheim is therefore a very popular and sought after place of residence. For centuries, in addition to the temporary rule of Badenweilers, there were close relationships between Müllheim and Vögisheim, so that it was natural for the municipal reform that Vögisheim was the first municipality in the surrounding area to meet Müllheim. To 1. January 1970 the municipality Vögisheim was incorporated to the city Müllheim.
In 1960, the population was still 360 people and has since increased enormously to currently 801 people (as of 31.10.2004). In 1995, the 600th anniversary of the first documentary mention of Vögisheim could be celebrated, but the place is probably already inhabited a long time before.
Agriculture declined - as everywhere in rural areas - in favor of a cautious housing development in the town and in the outskirts; dominating is still the wine, which is operated in three larger vineyards west (Gewanne Grabenstück, Holdem), southeast (Kongen Neuenberg, Sonnholen) and south (Gewann Krottenstollen) of the district.
